This is my very first solo kitty... and yes, it's a masked kitty!
I'm very excited about the piece and very happy how it turned out.
I never thought I would paint my fantasy art without my fantasy girls.
Due to "Lavender Venice Night" is my very first solo kitty art, it is not available for sale and it would be a private collection but I'll do a series of solo masked kitty though....Thank you for wacthing!

Outlining of " Winter Watcher "

I wanted to share the progress of outlining "Winter Watcher" It's for my licensed product rubber stamps.
I printed out the coloured image, put it on light box, transfered it onto watercolour paper by pencil. Then I use my dip pen and black ink for outlining. (sometimes I use STAEDTLER pigment liner)
The outlining may a slightly different from my coloured image as I re do it by my hand, not by digitally help :)

April, 2009 - It's dandelion season at Seattle now, I could see dandelion everywhere. Last Sunday, when I was on my way to dinner at Seattle Chinatown, I saw the most beautiful dandelion field just beside a condo. I just thought, how fantastic it was if I were a very little fairy and spent my whole cozy afternoon at this beautiful and peaceful dandelion field.

WIP- Tender Lavender

1. First, the background was colored, then the skin tone. The colors of background is important as I always use it to decide the color palette for the whole piece.
2. I colored the hair then; sometimes I color the clothes first if I know what color to use.
3. I added some colors to the clothes and did more details on the hair.

4. At this step, I added more subtle colors at background and did more details at the clothes. Then I colored the small objects.
5. Finally, I checked the whole piece, and added more details such as colored lips, eyes lashes etc....and DONE!

From sketch to finish : about six and half hours.

Ching-Chou Kuik was born in 1979 at Pantai Remis, Perak, Malaysia . She lived in Malaysia, and moved to Taiwan at age of 19, to pursuit her fine art education at National Taiwan Normal University.
In 2003, she graduated with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (painting).
While in Taipei, Ching-Chou enjoyed being an art teacher for young children from age three to twelve. The originality of the youngsters' pieces inspires her and brings enthusiasm and creativity to her works.
Ching-Chou moved to Seattle with her husband in 2005.
Ching-Chou became a full-time artist and share her art with others since Mar 2006.
